Prior to joining Bawtrees as a partner in April 2022, Maria ran a niche practice in Chelmsford, which she set up in 2004. Maria has a wealth of family law, litigation and employment experience spanning over 30 years. She was delighted to join Bawtrees having had a professional relationship with the firm for many years.

Paul has specialised in property work throughout his career, in particular residential conveyancing. Paul joined Bawtrees in 1978 and is a qualified Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and also a Licensed Conveyancer.

John's Bio

John joined the firm in September 2023 into the Private Client Dept.

He deals with client’s instructions diligently, efficiently but with sensitivity since he works with clients who may be grieving a loss, or who feel uncomfortable giving instructions in respect of their Will.

Outside of work, you may find John in the mountains of Scotland, Wales and the Lake District, or you may find him playing local 6-a-side football.

Verity's Bio

Verity joined Bawtress in October 2023 as a Trainee Solicitor. She obtained her LPC with MSc in 2017 and has gained over 5 years of experience within Residential Property.

Verity demonstrates great enthusiasm and commitment within her role and is very passionate about progressing her career path.

Outside of work, Verity enjoys spending time with her family and her many animals, including her Great Dane and two horses, as well as enjoying UK breaks away with her partner and the occasional holiday abroad. She’s also partial to a glass of wine and a stress ball.

Sidney's Bio

Sidney joined Bawtrees in August 2023 as Trainee Solicitor.

He studied at the University of Essex achieving an Upper-Second Class in LLB Law as well as a Distinction in his LPC combined with a Masters Degree in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Law.

Outside of work Sidney enjoys spending time his family and friends, as well as a keen interest in fitness. Sidney is also a life-long Crystal Palace supporter and hopes people will not judge him solely on his choice of Football Team.

Claire's Bio

Claire joined Bawtrees at the beginning of 2024 and brings to the firm over 25 years of experience within the Legal Profession.

She started her career in Criminal Law where she was adjudged by the Taxing Master at the Old Bailey as a Grade B Fee Earner and was on the Very High Cost Cases Panel. She moved into Practice Management over 17 years ago and is a Member of the Institute of Legal Finance & Management. Claire is responsible for all Accounts, H.R. and Office Management providing the highest quality of support to the Partners and Staff.

Claire belongs to the Tanners Company of Bermondsey and in December 2023 had the honour of being awarded the Freedom of the City Of London.
